WATCH UF 2500®

Compact point-of-entry ultrafiltration at more than 2,000 litres per hour

Point-of-Entry Ultrafiltration

Filter particles and microorganisms / Without a storage tank

WATCH UF 2500® is a compact point-of-entry ultrafiltration system designed to reduce suspended particles, colloids and microorganisms from appropriately pretreated water.

The system uses a tubular ultrafiltration membrane with an absolute filtration rating of 20 nanometres, or 0.02 microns. Operating directly from suitable inlet pressure, WATCH UF 2500® provides a published flow of 2.2-2.7 m³/h at 25°C and 4 bar without requiring a treated-water storage tank or feed pump. It is available with manual or automatic backwashing and can be connected in parallel or series for larger commercial installations.

Reverse-Osmosis Pre-Filtration

Helps reduce particulate and microbiological loading before compatible RO systems.

Hotels and Restaurants

Point-of-entry filtration for hospitality and food-service properties.

Holiday Homes and Campsites

Compact filtration for seasonal properties and camping facilities.

Remote and Temporary Operations

Potential use at remote worksites, mining operations, logging camps and temporary facilities.

Agriculture and Emergency Supply

Filtration for suitable seasonal agricultural activities and emergency-water installations with appropriate disinfection safeguards.

Four filtration functions / Engineered into one compact system

UF

0.02-Micron Absolute Filtration (UF-20NM)

The tubular ultrafiltration membrane provides a published absolute rating of 20 nm for retaining particles, colloids and many microorganisms larger than the membrane pores.

OI

Outside-to-Inside Filtration (OUT-IN)

Feed water passes from the outside of the tubular membrane toward the filtered-water side, retaining contaminants on the membrane surface.

DF

No Storage Tank or Feed Pump (DIRECT-FLOW)

The system can operate directly from suitable line pressure without a separate treated-water storage tank or feed pump.

FB

Manual or Automatic Cleaning (FLEX-BACKWASH)

WATCH UF 2500® is available with manual or automatic backwashing. Optional components support filtered-water backwashing, chemical cleaning, disinfection and bypass operation.

How WATCH UF 2500 ultrafiltration works

Ultrafiltration uses pressure to move water through a porous membrane while retaining suspended material and microorganisms according to their effective size.

  • Size-Based Separation – The 0.02-micron absolute membrane barrier retains particles and organisms larger than the membrane’s rated pores while water and dissolved ions pass through.
  • Colloid and Turbidity Control – Fine suspended solids and colloidal particles accumulate at the membrane surface instead of passing into the filtered-water stream.
  • Microorganism Reduction – Log-reduction performance for bacteria, viruses and cysts depends on the test organism, protocol and operating conditions.
  • Backwash and Cleaning Recovery – Periodic backwashing removes accumulated deposits. More intensive cleaning or disinfection may be required when normal backwashing no longer restores flow.

Asked Questions

Essential information about membrane performance, installation, backwashing, disinfection and system limitations.

Contact Support
What is WATCH UF 2500®?
It is a point-of-entry tubular ultrafiltration system with a published absolute membrane rating of 20 nm, or 0.02 µm.
What is the system’s normal flow rate?
The published flow is 2.2-2.7 m³/h at 25°C and 4 bar. Actual flow depends on pressure, temperature, inlet quality and membrane condition.
Does it need a storage tank or feed pump?
Not when sufficient and stable inlet pressure is available. Low-pressure or variable-demand applications may require additional equipment.
What does the membrane remove?
It reduces suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, cyst-sized organisms and some viruses according to its validated log-reduction performance.
Does ultrafiltration remove dissolved salts or hardness?
No. Dissolved minerals, hardness, nitrate, fluoride, arsenic and most dissolved chemicals can pass through an ultrafiltration membrane.
Is WATCH UF 2500 a complete water purifier?
It should only be described as a purifier if the complete system meets an applicable purifier protocol. The published 2.4-log virus and approximately 2-log cyst reductions do not support a universal pathogen-removal claim.
Is pretreatment required?
Yes. The brochure specifies 5-micron prefiltration and recommends 1-micron prefiltration.
What is the difference between manual and automatic backwashing?
The manual version requires operator-controlled cleaning, while the automatic version uses a Tech-Series valve and programmable cleaning sequence.
How frequently should the membrane be backwashed?
Frequency depends on turbidity, suspended solids, pressure loss and operating time. The manufacturer should provide a commissioning baseline and defined trigger limits.
Can chlorine be used?
The published maximum during service is 1.0 ppm, while up to 200 ppm is stated for cleaning. Concentration, contact time, pH and rinsing instructions must be defined.
Can several systems be connected together?
Yes. The brochure states that units can be manifolded in parallel or series for commercial applications, subject to correct hydraulic design.
Can it treat microbiologically unsafe source water by itself?
Do not assume so. CDC guidance notes that ultrafiltration removes bacteria and parasites but is only somewhat effective for viruses. Depending on source-water risk and local regulations, validated disinfection may also be necessary. (CDC home water-treatment guidance)
