INSTANT I-SOFT® is a family of concentrated powdered dosing formulations developed for drinking water, boilers, cooling systems, membrane pretreatment and integrated RED-OXY™ processes.
Scaling, corrosion and biofouling are interconnected challenges across the water cycle. Mineral deposits reduce heat transfer and membrane performance, corrosion damages metallic infrastructure, and deposits can create favourable surfaces for biofilm development. INSTANT I-SOFT® formulations combine application-specific antiscalants, dispersants, corrosion inhibitors, oxygen scavengers or microbial-control components. The dry products are diluted on site into dosing solutions, reducing the need to transport and store large volumes of water contained in conventional liquid formulations. Every I-SOFT® type has a different composition and must be selected using complete water analysis, equipment materials and operating conditions.

Drinking Water Treatment (INSTANT I-SOFT® & I-SOFT® DW)
I-SOFT® DW is the drinking-water-grade formulation developed for potable-water networks, food and beverage processing and compatible domestic systems. It combines residual-hardness stabilisation, dispersion and corrosion-control chemistry. Continuous proportional dosing is intended to keep selected sulfate, silica and hardness species in a controlled condition while supporting protective treatment of pipe surfaces.

Contains a volatile oxygen-scavenging formulation (CHZ-based, hydrazine-free) to support dissolved-oxygen removal, metal passivation and condensate pH control.
Guidance: 1 kg into 20 L water; ~56 mL/m³ of 5% solution per 1 mg/L dissolved oxygen (Industrial use only).

Cooling Water Treatment (I-SOFT® NB & I-SOFT® OB)
I-SOFT® NB — Continuous Cooling-Water Treatment
Multifunctional cooling-water formulation containing antiscalant, dispersant, corrosion inhibitor, non-oxidising biocide, and tolyltriazole for copper-alloy protection. Feed rate: ~50 mL/m³ of makeup water; silica claim up to 300 mg/L.
I-SOFT® OB — Oxidising Shock Treatment
Periodic oxidising microbial-control treatment for cooling towers and HVAC circuits (~100 mL/m³). Often alternated with NB in a 3:1 programme.

Cycles of concentration, conductivity, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, silica, sulfate, chloride, corrosion rates, treatment residual, ORP, heterotrophic plate count, Legionella indicators, and blowdown volume.
Membrane Treatment (I-SOFT® RO & I-SOFT® ROB)
I-SOFT® RO & ROB Antiscalants
Concentrated powdered antiscalants developed for RO feed water containing silica, sulfate, barium, and strontium. ROB adds an oxidising microbial-control component (requires polyamide membrane compatibility check).
Guidance: Standard preparation: 1 kg into 20 L water (~5% strength); feed range: 10–40 mL/m³ (10 mL/m³ guideline for TDS up to 2,000 mg/L).
Membrane Monitoring
Feed/permeate/concentrate conductivity, normalised permeate flow, normalised DP, salt rejection, Ca, sulfate, Ba, Sr, reactive/colloidal silica, saturation indices, SDI, turbidity, biofilm indicators, antiscalant residual, and oxidant residual.

RED-OXY™ Treatment Integration
INSTANT I-SOFT® may be used as a supporting conditioning step in selected RED-OXY™ treatment programmes where oxidation causes dissolved metals, hardness minerals or organic matter to form suspended reaction products. The I-SOFT® component helps control secondary precipitation and disperse generated solids.

Threshold scale inhibition (SCALE-DELAY)
Application-specific formulations interfere with nucleation, crystal growth or precipitation of selected scale-forming salts.
Deposit dispersion (DISPERSA)
Dispersing components help keep selected fine particles suspended so they can leave through blowdown, concentrate or filtration.
Corrosion-risk management (CORRO-GUARD)
Selected formulations include corrosion inhibitors, alkalinity builders or oxygen scavengers matched to drinking-water, boiler and cooling applications.
Application-specific microbial control (BIO-CONTROL)
NB, OB and ROB variants add non-oxidising or oxidising microbial-control functions where legally approved and technically compatible.
Threshold inhibition, dispersion and corrosion control
INSTANT I-SOFT® formulations do not simply “soften” water. They modify precipitation, dispersion, corrosion or oxygen chemistry according to the selected product.
- Scale Supersaturation – Scale occurs when ions exceed mineral solubility ($Ca^{2+} + CO_3^{2-} \rightleftharpoons CaCO_{3(s)}$ and $Ca^{2+} + SO_4^{2-} \rightleftharpoons CaSO_{4(s)}$); antiscalants delay precipitation without removing ions.
- Threshold Inhibition – Low antiscalant concentrations adsorb on crystal-growth sites, delaying nucleation and crystal development during system residence time.
- Dispersion – Dispersants reduce particle agglomeration and deposition, requiring suspended material to leave through blowdown, concentrate or backwash.
- Corrosion & Oxygen Control – Corrosion inhibitors support surface passivation, while oxygen scavengers react with dissolved oxygen in boilers (performance depends on pH, temperature, and metallurgy).
