OxySorb™

Controlled oxygen release and nutrient adsorption for healthier water bodies

Oxygen + Adsorption

Release oxygen / Capture nutrients / Restore aquatic balance

OxySorb™ is a multifunctional granulate that combines controlled oxygen release with adsorptive media for long-term water-quality management.

The name OxySorb™ reflects its two principal functions: “Oxy” for controlled oxygen release and “Sorb” for contaminant adsorption. Its oxygen-releasing component is designed to improve conditions in oxygen-depleted water and sediment, while the granular adsorbent targets selected nutrients and pollutants. OxySorb™ can support programmes addressing eutrophication, phosphate enrichment, sulphide odour, organic sediment and low dissolved oxygen. Every project requires water-body characterisation, ecological assessment, controlled dosage selection and ongoing monitoring.

Sustained oxygenation / Targeted nutrient capture

OxySorb Introduction

One oxygen-adsorption technology.
Multiple restoration environments.

OxySorb™ can be evaluated for managed surface water, wastewater and remediation projects where oxygen depletion and nutrient enrichment contribute to poor water quality.

Lakes, Ponds & Reservoirs

Supports oxygenation and nutrient management in water bodies affected by eutrophication, algae and organic sediment.

Rivers, Streams & Canals

May provide local oxygen support and pollutant management in slow-moving or professionally controlled waterways.

Wastewater Lagoons

Supports aerobic biological activity, sulphide control and organic-matter degradation in wastewater lagoons.

Wetlands, Harbours & Basins

Can be evaluated for targeted restoration where site hydrodynamics and ecological compatibility are understood.

Oil & Grease Traps

The brochure identifies sulphide and odour control in oil and grease traps as an additional application.

Soil & Groundwater Remediation

Proposed for selected soil-treatment, groundwater-remediation and groundwater-pump applications following specialist assessment.

Four water-restoration functions / Integrated into one granule

O₂

Controlled Active Oxygen (OXYGEN-RELEASE)

The oxygen-releasing component gradually supplies oxygen to support improved dissolved-oxygen and sediment conditions.

P-CAP

Nutrient Adsorption (PHOSPHATE-CAPTURE)

The adsorptive granules are intended to capture phosphate and reduce its immediate availability for excessive algae and cyanobacteria growth.

H₂S

Odour and Harmful-Gas Management (SULPHIDE-CONTROL)

Oxygen release and adsorption can help reduce hydrogen sulphide and the strongly reducing conditions responsible for nuisance odours.

BIO

Support for Aerobic Degradation (BIOREMEDIATION)

Improved oxygen availability can support aerobic microorganisms responsible for degrading biodegradable organic matter.

Science & Technology

OxySorb™ combines an oxygen-generating phase with granular adsorption to address both oxygen deficiency and nutrient enrichment.

  • Oxygen-Generating Chemistry – Identifies “Oxyperoxide” as the principal oxygen-releasing component, designed to release active oxygen gradually on contact with water.
  • Bottom-Water Oxygen Support – As granules settle, oxygen is delivered closer to bottom sediments, helping reduce hypoxia and supporting more aerobic sediment conditions.
  • Phosphate Adsorption – Phosphate binds to suitable mineral surfaces through adsorption, surface complexation or precipitation (captured phosphorus remains in the solid phase).
  • Biological Restoration – Increased oxygen availability supports aerobic bacteria and other microorganisms that metabolise biodegradable organic matter when external sources are controlled.

Asked Questions

Technical answers about OxySorb™ oxygen release, adsorption, water-body applications and environmental monitoring.

Contact Support
What is OxySorb™?
OxySorb™ is a granular product combining controlled oxygen release with an adsorptive component for water and sediment treatment.
How does OxySorb™ work?
Its oxygen-releasing component gradually supplies oxygen, while the granular adsorbent is intended to bind phosphate and selected contaminants.
How long can it release oxygen?
The brochure claims oxygen release for up to one year after one application. Actual duration depends on composition, temperature, water chemistry and oxygen demand.
What is Oxyperoxide?
The brochure uses this proprietary term for the primary oxygen-releasing component. Its exact chemical identity and active content should be obtained from the current TDS and SDS.
Can OxySorb™ prevent algal blooms?
It may support bloom management by improving oxygen conditions and reducing phosphate availability. Blooms can return if external nutrient loading continues.
Does OxySorb™ remove nitrogen and nitrate?
The brochure claims nitrate adsorption, but compound-specific capacity data are required. Oxygenation may also support biological nitrification, which transforms rather than removes total nitrogen.
Does it remove phosphate?
Its adsorptive component is designed for phosphate capture. Actual capacity and long-term retention depend on water and sediment chemistry.
Can OxySorb™ remove hydrogen sulphide?
Oxygen release can promote sulphide oxidation, while the adsorbent may support sulphide capture. Performance depends on sulphide loading and oxygen demand.
Does it remove bacteria or cyanobacteria?
OxySorb™ should not be presented as a disinfectant without validated organism-specific log-reduction data. Cyanobacterial blooms also require toxin monitoring.
Is OxySorb™ safe for drinking-water reservoirs?
Use in a raw-water reservoir does not make the water immediately drinkable. Complete drinking-water treatment and regulatory approval remain necessary.
Will OxySorb™ maintain water pH at 7.6?
No universal pH can be guaranteed. Final pH depends on alkalinity, dosage, biological activity and the original water chemistry.
How is the correct dose determined?
The page and brochure do not provide a validated universal dosage. Laboratory testing and a controlled field trial are required.
