TrappSorb® is a porous, magnesium-oxide-based bead media designed for acidic-water neutralisation, contaminant treatment and controlled remineralisation.
TrappSorb® combines magnesium oxide, calcium oxide and proprietary ingredients in free-flowing, uniformly sized beads. As water passes through the media, the alkaline mineral components react with acidity and release magnesium, calcium and hydroxide species. The resulting pH correction can support adsorption or precipitation of phosphate, silica and selected heavy metals. TrappSorb® may also improve corrosive, demineralised or desalinated water by increasing mineral content and alkalinity. A downstream Crystolite® or Zeosorb® filtration stage is recommended where precipitated contaminants or media fines must be separated.
TrappSorb® can be installed in fixed-bed vessels for potable-water conditioning, wastewater treatment and industrial-process applications after complete water analysis.
Magnesium and calcium oxides consume acidity and increase pH and alkalinity without continuous liquid-caustic dosing.
Supports phosphate adsorption or precipitation and can contribute to nutrient-management processes in wastewater.
Higher pH can reduce the solubility of selected metals, allowing precipitated solids to be captured by downstream filtration.
Can be evaluated for adsorption or co-precipitation of selected silica and boron species under controlled chemical conditions.
Neutralises carbonic acidity and may reduce hydrogen-sulphide odour by changing sulphide speciation and supporting separation.
Adds magnesium and calcium while increasing alkalinity in demineralised, desalinated or naturally soft water.
Magnesium and calcium oxides react with acidic water, increasing pH and contributing alkalinity.
The porous mineral surface provides active sites for adsorption and surface complexation of selected contaminants.
pH elevation can precipitate selected metals, phosphate and silica species for downstream separation.
Controlled mineral dissolution adds magnesium and calcium to low-mineral water while improving buffering capacity.
TrappSorb® uses mineral dissolution, acid neutralisation, surface adsorption and precipitation rather than conventional polymeric ion exchange.
