COMBI-MIX™ is a proprietary multi-media treatment solution developed by Watch Water® for residential and commercial drinking-water systems.
COMBI-MIX™ combines AQUARedox, ZVI-coated Catalytic Carbon, Cationix and Katalox Light in one pressure vessel. Together, these media address water hardness, iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, chloramines, organic contaminants and selected heavy metals. The integrated design reduces the need for multiple separate treatment vessels while supporting both upflow and downflow system configurations. The four media have different densities and settle into distinct functional layers inside the pressure vessel. In the arrangement described by Watch Water®, AQUARedox forms the upper layer, followed by Catalytic Carbon, Cationix and the denser Katalox Light near the bottom distributor.

COMBI-MIX™ is intended for packed-bed residential and commercial systems requiring several treatment processes within a compact footprint. System sizing and configuration should be based on a complete influent-water analysis, flow rate and contaminant loading.

Four specialized media engineered into one treatment system
Advanced oxidation-reduction technology
AQUARedox is designed to support oxidation-reduction processes for treating selected organic, inorganic and emerging contaminants. Its macroporous granular structure provides extensive contact between the water and active treatment surface.
Adsorption combined with chemical reduction
Catalytic Carbon coated with Zero-Valent Iron combines adsorption and reduction mechanisms. It is intended to reduce chlorine, chloramines, organic compounds and selected metals while helping improve taste and odor.
Efficient ion-exchange water softening
Cationix exchanges calcium and magnesium hardness ions for sodium or potassium ions. It helps prevent scale formation and supports efficient regeneration within the integrated COMBI-MIX™ system.
Catalytic iron, manganese and hydrogen-sulfide filtration
Katalox Light is a manganese-dioxide-coated filtration medium designed for the reduction of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide. Its catalytic surface combines contaminant oxidation with physical filtration.
Multiple treatment mechanisms

COMBI-MIX™ brings together redox treatment, adsorption, chemical reduction, ion exchange and catalytic filtration. The media are selected to provide complementary functions within one packed-bed system.
- Redox Treatment – AQUARedox supports oxidation-reduction reactions that transform or immobilize selected dissolved contaminants.
- Adsorption and ZVI Reduction – Catalytic Carbon captures organic compounds while its Zero-Valent Iron coating supports the reduction of selected inorganic contaminants and disinfectant residuals.
- Ion-Exchange Softening – Cationix removes calcium and magnesium ions responsible for hardness and replaces them with sodium or potassium ions.
- Catalytic Filtration – Katalox Light supports the oxidation and filtration of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide.
