BIODOS-CB™

Broad-Spectrum Microbiological Control for Industrial Cooling-Water Systems

Microbiological Control

Control microorganisms / Protect cooling-system performance

BIODOS-CB™ is a liquid biocidal treatment developed to control microbiological contamination and biofilm in industrial cooling-water systems.

BIODOS-CB™ is intended for cooling towers, evaporative coolers, heat exchangers, condensers and recirculating industrial cooling circuits. According to the datasheet, its broad-spectrum activity targets bacteria, algae, fungi, yeasts, slime-forming microorganisms and biofilm-forming populations. By controlling microbiological growth, an appropriately managed treatment programme can help maintain cleaner heat-transfer surfaces, reduce microbiologically influenced corrosion and improve cooling-system hygiene. Application must follow the product’s authorized label, biocidal registration, site risk assessment and microbiological monitoring programme.

By reducing microbial populations and deposits, BIODOS-CB™ may support a broader programme for controlling microbiologically influenced corrosion.

How biological growth affects cooling systems

Cooling systems provide moisture, nutrients, oxygen and favorable temperatures for microorganisms. Uncontrolled growth can develop into structured biofilms that reduce efficiency and protect embedded organisms.

  • Planktonic Microorganism Control – Free-floating microorganisms in recirculating water are exposed to the biocide during treatment (efficacy depends on active concentration, contact time, temperature and water quality).
  • Biofilm Matrix Disruption – Mature biofilms contain microorganisms within an extracellular polymeric matrix; effective removal may require biocide treatment together with biodispersants and physical cleaning.
  • Heat-Transfer Protection – Even relatively thin biological deposits insulate heat-transfer surfaces, restrict flow and create differential aeration areas.
  • MIC Risk Reduction – Sulfate-reducing, iron-related and slime-forming bacteria contribute to localized corrosion; microbial control reduces one risk factor but does not replace complete corrosion management.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Essential information about applying BIODOS-CB™ in industrial cooling-water systems.

Contact Support
What is BIODOS-CB™?
It is a liquid biocidal treatment developed to control microorganisms and biofilm in industrial cooling-water systems.
Which microorganisms does it target?
The datasheet identifies bacteria, algae, fungi, yeasts, slime-formers, biofilm-formers, sulfate-reducing bacteria, iron-related bacteria, Pseudomonas and Legionella.
What is the recommended shock dosage?
The datasheet gives a range of 50–200 ppm. The authorized product label must define the appropriate concentration and contact time.
What is the continuous dosage?
The datasheet provides a range of 5–20 ppm. Confirm that continuous application is authorized for the relevant active ingredient and use pattern.
Can BIODOS-CB™ remove established biofilm?
It may help control susceptible biofilm organisms, but mature deposits can require biodispersants, mechanical cleaning and repeated treatment.
Does BIODOS-CB™ eliminate Legionella?
It should not be described as guaranteeing elimination. Legionella control requires an authorized biocide, validated dosing, system-wide risk management and accredited testing.
Can it reduce microbiologically influenced corrosion?
Controlling microorganisms can reduce one cause of MIC. However, corrosion also depends on metallurgy, deposits, oxygen, water chemistry and operating conditions.
Is BIODOS-CB™ compatible with corrosion and scale inhibitors?
Compatibility depends on its active ingredient and the other chemicals used. Concentrated products should never be mixed without written approval.
Can BIODOS-CB™ improve heat transfer?
Controlling biological deposits can help restore or maintain cleaner heat-transfer surfaces, but actual improvement must be verified using operating data.
How should treatment performance be monitored?
Use microbial counts, ATP testing, dip slides, biofilm inspection, active-residual testing and periodic pathogen-specific laboratory analysis.
Can the treated blowdown be discharged directly?
Not automatically. Residual biocide and environmental toxicity must be evaluated against the discharge permit and local regulations.
How should BIODOS-CB™ be stored?
Store it sealed in a cool, dry place protected from sunlight and incompatible chemicals. The datasheet states a 12-month shelf life.
