ZINCPHOS-CT™

High-Performance Corrosion and Scale Protection for Cooling-Water Systems

Cooling-Water Protection

Invisible protection / Longer equipment life

ZINCPHOS-CT™ is an advanced liquid treatment formulated to control corrosion, scale and mineral deposits in open recirculating cooling-water systems.

ZINCPHOS-CT™ combines corrosion-inhibiting and scale-control chemistry for cooling towers, heat exchangers, condensers and industrial cooling circuits. The formulation is designed to establish a protective passivation layer on compatible metal surfaces while interfering with the precipitation and deposition of calcium, magnesium, phosphate and silicate-containing minerals. When supported by accurate dosing, water monitoring and a suitable microbiological-control programme, it can help maintain cleaner heat-transfer surfaces, improve operating reliability and extend equipment service life.

Multiple cooling-water industries.

ZINCPHOS-CT™ is developed for open recirculating and industrial process-cooling systems containing carbon steel, copper, copper alloys or mixed metallurgy.

Cooling Towers

Combined corrosion and deposit control for open evaporative cooling towers.

Open Recirculating Cooling Systems

Continuous protection as dissolved minerals become concentrated through evaporation.

Heat Exchangers and Condensers

Helps protect heat-transfer surfaces against corrosion and insulating mineral deposits.

Chemical and Petrochemical Plants

Treatment support for industrial cooling circuits operating under demanding process conditions.

Power Plants and Refineries

Four protective functions / Integrated into one liquid treatment

Protective surface-film formation (PASSIVATION-GUARD)

Promotes the formation of a thin protective layer on compatible metal surfaces, reducing direct interaction between the water and the underlying metal.

Fe

Carbon-steel corrosion control (STEEL-PROTECT)

Helps reduce general metal loss and localized corrosion on carbon-steel components when the prescribed treatment residual and water chemistry are maintained.

Cu

Copper and alloy protection (COPPER-GUARD)

Provides corrosion-control support for copper, brass and other copper-alloy components in compatible mixed-metal cooling systems.

Mineral-deposit inhibition (SCALE-CONTROL)

Interferes with the formation and attachment of calcium, magnesium, phosphate and silicate-containing deposits on equipment surfaces.

The science of passivation and deposit control

ZINCPHOS-CT™ combines metal-surface passivation with precipitation inhibition to address two major causes of cooling-system inefficiency: corrosion and mineral deposition.

  • Anodic & Cathodic Corrosion Control – Zinc- and phosphate-based inhibitor components influence electrochemical reactions at metal surfaces to reduce corrosion.
  • Protective Film Development – Promotes a surface film containing metal, zinc, phosphate or oxide species (film quality depends on pH, alkalinity, calcium, temperature, flow and conditioning time).
  • Crystal-Growth Interference – Scale-control components interfere with mineral nucleation, crystal growth and surface attachment.
  • Continuous Residual Management – Evaporation, blowdown, leakage and make-up water continuously change inhibitor concentration, requiring controlled dosing and routine monitoring.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Practical information about applying ZINCPHOS-CT™ in industrial cooling-water systems.

Contact Support
What is ZINCPHOS-CT™?
It is a liquid corrosion- and scale-control treatment developed for open recirculating cooling towers and industrial cooling-water circuits.
Which metals does it protect?
The datasheet identifies carbon steel, copper, copper alloys and mixed-metal systems. Actual protection must be confirmed under the relevant water chemistry and operating conditions.
Which types of scale does it control?
It is intended to control calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, calcium phosphate, magnesium-containing deposits and silicate-containing deposits.
What is the recommended initial dose?
The datasheet gives an initial conditioning range of 100–300 ppm. The appropriate dose depends on system volume, cleanliness, metallurgy and water quality.
What is the continuous dosage?
The stated continuous range is 10–50 ppm, with up to 100 ppm mentioned for high-load conditions. The controlled residual is more important than a universal feed rate.
Can ZINCPHOS-CT™ remove existing heavy scale?
It is primarily a preventive treatment. Existing heavy deposits may require mechanical or chemical cleaning before establishing a new treatment programme.
How does it control corrosion?
Its inhibitor components promote a protective film on metal surfaces and reduce electrochemical corrosion reactions when maintained at the correct concentration.
Is it compatible with cooling-water biocides?
The datasheet states compatibility with biocide programmes, but every oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocide must be checked individually.
Can it support higher cycles of concentration?
Potentially, provided scale indices, corrosion rates, silica, suspended solids and zinc/phosphate discharge limits remain under control.
How should treatment performance be monitored?
Monitor inhibitor residuals, zinc, phosphate, corrosion coupons or probes, water chemistry, conductivity, microbiological activity and heat-transfer performance.
Is ZINCPHOS-CT™ suitable for drinking-water systems?
The supplied datasheet describes cooling-water applications. It should not be promoted for drinking water without product-specific regulatory approval.
How should the product be stored?
Store it sealed, dry and protected from frost at 5–40°C. The datasheet states a shelf life of 24 months under recommended conditions.
