RAPID-OXY® Advanced Biocide

Rapid shock disinfection for water systems and compatible hard surfaces

Rapid Shock Disinfection

Fast oxidation / Controlled professional disinfection

RAPID-OXY® is an oxidizing biocidal formulation developed for shock treatment of compatible water systems and hard, non-porous surfaces.

The formulation combines Watch Water® OXYDES® chemistry with a biodegradable organic acid activator. When prepared and applied under validated conditions, the system is intended to generate reactive oxygen species, including hydroxyl-radical pathways, for rapid microbial inactivation. RAPID-OXY® may be used only for applications, organisms, concentrations and contact times covered by its current biocidal authorization, efficacy documentation and product label.

Rapid activation / Short-contact disinfection

RAPID-OXY Introduction

One professional biocide.
Multiple controlled applications.

Potential applications must be limited to the uses authorized on the current product label in the country where RAPID-OXY® is supplied.

Food and Beverage Facilities

Disinfection of authorized process-water systems, equipment and compatible hard surfaces.

Fruit, Vegetable and Agricultural Operations

Treatment for approved produce, feed, farming and agricultural-water applications.

Process and Raw Water

Shock treatment of compatible industrial process-water and raw-water systems.

Wastewater and Water Reuse

Microbial-control applications within professionally managed wastewater and reuse treatment trains.

Buildings and Institutions

Approved hard-surface or water-system treatment in hospitals, schools, universities and commercial buildings.

Cooling and Heat-Transfer Systems

Shock disinfection of compatible cooling towers and heat exchangers under an approved operational procedure.

Four treatment functions / Integrated into one formulation

OX

Primary Oxidizing Chemistry (OXYDES®)

The OXYDES® component provides the primary reactive-oxygen chemistry required for microbial inactivation.

OA

Acid-Assisted Activation (ORGANIC-ACTIVATOR)

The brochure identifies a biodegradable organic acid that acts as an activator or catalyst for the oxidation process.

RC

Short-Contact Shock Treatment (RAPID-CONTACT)

RAPID-OXY® is designed for fast microbial-control applications. The required contact time must be established for each named organism and use condition.

RX

Post-Treatment Residual Management (RESIDUAL-CONTROL)

The brochure states that active substances become undetectable after approximately 30 minutes. This must be defined using a validated analytical method and detection limit.

Science behind RAPID-OXY® disinfection

RAPID-OXY® uses acid-activated oxidation chemistry to damage essential microbial structures. Efficacy depends on concentration, contact time, temperature, pH, water quality and organic loading.

  • Reactive-Oxygen Formation – Dissolved product generates reactive oxygen species capable of oxidizing susceptible cellular components.
  • Acid-Assisted Activation – The organic acid modifies reaction conditions and accelerates development of the active oxidizing species.
  • Microbial Inactivation – Oxidative damage affects membranes, proteins, enzymes and genetic material (every efficacy claim requires a named organism and recognized test method).
  • Residual Decay and Verification – After the specified contact period, residual active substances must be measured before water discharge, reuse or contact with food-processing equipment.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Important information about RAPID-OXY® applications, dosage, contact time, safety and regulatory requirements.

Contact Support
What is RAPID-OXY®?
It is an oxidizing biocidal formulation intended for authorized shock-disinfection applications in water systems and on compatible hard surfaces.
What is its active chemistry?
The brochure describes Watch Water® OXYDES® combined with a strong biodegradable organic acid, but does not disclose the active substances or concentrations.
What dosage does the brochure provide?
It states 20 g per 100 L, equivalent to 200 mg/L. This should not be applied universally without the approved label.
Does it kill every kind of bacteria?
No universal claim should be made. Efficacy must be demonstrated for specific organisms, concentrations, contact times and test conditions.
Does it work within seconds?
This requires organism-specific evidence. Some microorganisms and biofilms may require considerably longer contact.
Can it inactivate viruses?
The brochure focuses primarily on bacteria. Virucidal claims require separate recognized testing and regulatory authorization.
Can it be used in drinking water?
Only if the exact use is covered by the applicable biocidal authorization and drinking-water requirements.
Is it food-grade and food-safe?
Those terms require supporting composition, migration, residue and regulatory documentation. They should not be used without identifying the applicable approval.
Can it be applied directly to fruits and vegetables?
Only if produce treatment is explicitly authorized and maximum residues, rinsing and food-contact requirements are defined.
Does it leave no by-products?
This cannot be assumed. Oxidation can produce transformation products that depend on the contaminants and water chemistry.
What does “undetectable after 30 minutes” mean?
The active substance, analytical method, detection limit, starting concentration and test-water conditions must be identified.
What must users check before application?
Confirm the authorization, approved use, product type, dose, organism claim, contact time, PPE, rinsing, residual limits and disposal requirements.
